Review: Hard Hitter (Brooklyn Bruisers #2) by Sarina Bowen

hard hitter

He’s a fighter in the rink, but he’s about to learn that playing nice can help you score…

As team captain and enforcer, Patrick O’Doul puts the bruise in the Brooklyn Bruisers. But after years of hard hits, O’Doul is feeling the burn, both physically and mentally. He conceals his pain from his coach and trainers, but when his chronic hip injury becomes too obvious to ignore, they send him for sessions with the team’s massage therapist.

After breaking up with her long-term boyfriend, Ari Bettini is in need of peace of mind. For now, she’s decided to focus on her work: rehabilitating the Bruisers’ MVP. O’Doul is easy on the eyes, but his reaction to her touch is ice cold. Ari is determined to help O’Doul heal, but as the tension between them turns red hot, they both learn that a little TLC does the body good…

Hard Hitter hit me hard. Corny, I know, I couldn’t stop myself. Though that only reflects the title.

Patrick O’Doule, the bruiser of the team, falls hard for the masseuse/yoga instructor of the team. No one saw that coming, not even him.

Though Ari is reluctant to jump into a new relationship, when she just got out from one. Still Patrick is not one to give up easily. He knows he’ll wear her down. Convince her that it’s not just incredible bed action, he truly cares.

If Ari is honest with herself she knows that. Though I also understand that her life is a mess right now. How she doesn’t want to dig him in all that.

Patrick isn’t the type of guy who isn’t there when he doesn’t want to be. So right beside Ari, mess or no mess, is where he chooses to stand. I loved how he continuously had her back.

Though that feeling is retaliated when we discover that Patrick has some issues of his own. Letting Ari get close isn’t easy, but well worth it.

These two together are so adorable. Which is not the first word you would associate with Patrick O’Doule. I loved their story, and the heavy drama, which we’re not that used to from Sarina Bowen. Though it made for some surprising twists that kept me on my toes.

I’m already looking forward to read more about the Brooklyn Bruisers.
